The Story Behind I-Conicals
Carlo has dedicated 27 years to his role as a product developer in the design team at ARCO. When ARCO decided to discontinue the I-ConDesk, the idea emerged to revive this iconic design and establish a new company focused on its production, along with related products, after his retirement.
As one of the key figures in the original I-ConDesk development process, Carlo possesses in-depth knowledge of its design and craftsmanship. With ARCO’s full support, he partnered with his longtime friend Jan-Willem Kessener, an experienced industrial designer, to bring this vision to life.
Beyond his work in design, Jan-Willem has also made significant contributions to healthcare design, introducing the Healing Environment concept in several Dutch hospitals.
This shared passion for craftsmanship, innovation, and timeless design led to the founding of I-Conicals in January 2018, ensuring the legacy of the I-ConDesk lives on.
A New Chapter for the I-ConDesk

In collaboration with designer Michiel van der Kley, exciting new developments will soon be introduced under the I-Conicals concept. ARCO has given its full support to this transition, transferring all necessary production resources to I-Conicals, ensuring the I-ConDesk can once again be crafted to the highest standards. We are incredibly grateful for this opportunity.
To further enhance its quality, the I-ConDesk now features solid wooden drawers, and each desk is individually numbered and signed by the original designer, making it a true collector’s piece.
